Postpartum Doula

"I will nurture you and your family while you rest, recover and bond with your new baby or babies. I want to help you adjust to the many changes and challenges you will encounter during the fourth trimester. It is my belief that when you have support, you will feel confident in your parenting and your growing family will flourish!"

As your Postpartum Doula, Karen Kelly can assist you with the practical, emotional, and informational support families need during the first 12 weeks with a new baby.  That support will look different for each family, and what she does each day will change according to your specific needs. Her goal is always to promote parent/infant bonding, rest, and healing while creating balance and organization in the home.

Karen is proud to be a Certified Postpartum Doula through DONA International. Their mission, “a doula for everyone who wants one” is a guiding principle for her. Karen believes that every family deserves to be cared for during the fourth trimester, whether a traditional, non-traditional, or adoptive family.

"It is my privilege to help guide you through those first weeks at home with your new baby, and my joy to witness your journey."

Karen lives with her husband and elderly dog, Stella, in Ellicott City MD.  She is a Mother to three wonderful young adult children. When she is not providing postpartum support you can find her working in her garden, reading, volunteering, or listening to a birth podcast!

Reviews of Karen Kelly:

"Karen is such a natural kind hearted, and empathetic person. She helped us all acclimate to being a family of 5, provided space for me to process the wild birth and ensured we stayed nourished.

I always felt more human after she was here. I couldn’t think of a better person as a postpartum doula! Bonus is she’s an amazing cook!" - Vanessa M.

"Karen has been an incredible support throughout my postpartum period. She answered my questions and reassured me when I was doubting myself as a new mom. Her support made breastfeeding easier, which can be challenging for a new mom. She helped me through many sleepless nights by taking care of my newborn, while I was taking napping. She is not only an amazing postpartum doula but, a friend, sister and a family.

She was very flexible with her time and our need. Having a baby during COVID-19 period can be stressful and scary, but Karen was taking all the preventative measures needed to keep me and my family safe. We truly appreciate her and love her. For families who are expecting, she will be a great support." - Yordanos E.

"Karen gave my husband and I us a level of confidence caring for our newborn that we didn’t have before. She also provided me with extremely helpful breastfeeding support, which had reassured me that I’m nursing my baby well according to his nutrition needs. Due to COVID and family being in different states we really appreciated having her in our life especially when we needed it most.

She always provides affirmation that we were doing a great job even when we didn’t feel like it." - Ashley W.
