Tia Ajao


"My mission is to have all of the tools needed to promote the health, safety and well being of women, their children and the communities that support them."


Tia Ajao became a Nurse & a Doula at Johns Hopkins School of Nursing and has been a Postpartum & Baby Nurse or over 7 years.


She is a certified Lactation Consultant, with experience supporting breastfeeding moms in the hospital and as a remote or in-person consultant. Tia is also a Birth Doula with over 50 births over 7 years.


On top of this, she is a RN Birth Assistant for Community Birth, supporting home birth and birth center births with Certified Nurse Midwives.

Tia supports prenatal breastfeeding education, immediate postpartum support and support of the lactation journey. She is trained on and provides evidence-based childbirth education, advocacy training, birth planning, birth support, and postpartum doula support.

She is always learning to add to and integrate her breadth of expertise. Tia is currently a student of Nurse-Midwifery & Women's Health at Georgetown University School of Nursing.

"I serve as a Fellow with The National Black Midwives Alliance in an effort to empower & equip student midwives around the country. I dreams to one day host vacations for black birthworkers to The Motherland, so that they can enjoy and experience birth as originally intended."

Tia's full name is Taiwo Ikeoluwa Ajao. She is a DC-born, Baltimore-raised child of immigrant parents from Nigeria, West Africa.
