Jonelle Lund

International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC), Registered Nurse (RN)

"I want to meet mothers and babies where they are on their breastfeeding journey."

When Jonelle Lund struggled with feeding her oldest, she turned her career towards helping other families through this experience.

Since then, Jonelle has become very passionate about helping babies, especially those with tethered oral tissues (like tongue ties and lip ties).

This can affect so many things in their lives, such as feedings, speech, and breathing, so it is so important to take care of this when you can.

Jonelle Lund is trained as a Tethered Oral Technician, and uses the TOTs methodology in all facets of her work. This method is in summary:

  1. Evaluate  - what is going on with mom and baby

  2. Educate - mom on what is happening

  3. Execute - a plan for mom & baby

She brings a calmness and positive vibes to each of the families she serves. A strong mother/baby dyad will leave her with a sense of confidence that the baby will be nourished well and the parents will be at ease.

"I believe that mothers learn how to be Mothers from other Mothers!"

Jonelle Lund fondly attended Michigan State University where she obtained a Bachelors of Science in Nursing. She loves to travel and spend any time that she can near an ocean.

Her family is her rock, with an amazingly supportive husband of nearly 20 years, 3 wonderful children, and a French Bulldog named Breslin (a little nod to Michigan State) that brings her so much joy and laughter!

Reviews for Lactation Consultant Services by Jonelle Lund

"Jonelle isn’t someone who only knows the science behind successfully breastfeeding, but more importantly, her passion for moms and babies makes her stand apart.

As a first time momma, I turned to her for breastfeeding advice. I felt confident and equipped as I navigated the bonding journey with my daughter. I assumed the positive experience would be the same with my son, yet because of a bowel issue, he was in the NICU for three weeks. Jonelle gave me all the tricks and tips to successfully pump until he was able to breastfeed. My next baby died at thirteen weeks gestation, and since I delivered him, my hormones signaled milk production.

Jonelle compassionately grieved with me as she led me through the steps to decrease my milk supply. I miscarried and delivered a second time. I considered pumping and donating my milk to a mom who had recently adopted a baby, so Jonelle educated me on the milk donor process and taught me how to increase milk supply. Unfortunately, I had waited too long and decided it was for the best that I not pump and donate.

Sure enough, we were shocked to find out that my next pregnancy was twins! I don’t have to say it; Jonelle was on speed dial! She patiently walked beside me through all my setbacks, frustrations, baby illnesses and hospitalizations, mastitis, in addition to trying to pump/bottle feed/breastfeed twins. I had wanted to quit several times, but the encouragement that Jonelle constantly gave me was one of grace. I had too high expectations, and she helped me relax and enjoy the journey.

Thanks to her, I successfully breastfed my four live children throughout their first year."

"I’ve had the pleasure to work alongside Jonelle as a pediatric nurse. I can attest that Jonelle is caring, compassionate, and is the ultimate patient advocate.

I have 3 children and used lactation consultant services every time. Five days after my 3rd baby was born I reached out to Jonelle. I was engorged, getting painful, and had very little volume when pumping.

This had happened after each of my children were born. Jonelle asked some questions and within a minute or two she said, “…you’re third spacing fluid and need to get your lymphatic system to help drain that out…”, then told me what to do to make that happen. My mind was blown. Why didn’t anyone tell me this before!? I had never thought of that as a possibility.

In a matter of minutes, Jonelle was able to recommend a treatment that quickly resolved my issues.  Jonelle has a passion to help new and experienced mama’s succeed in their breastfeeding journey.  She is incredibly knowledgeable and an expert in her field.

Jonelle genuinely loves babies and goes above and beyond to provide an exceptional experience!"

"I couldn’t have done it without her! Jonelle was patient, knowledgeable & extremely helpful with my breastfeeding journey. She helped make sure baby had a deep latch from the beginning which created a more comfortable experience.

The support and encouragement to continue breastfeeding, even through the rough days, kept me motivated. I absolutely love breastfeeding my baby and I have Jonelle to thank for it!"

"By my 2nd baby and 2nd time breastfeeding, I was sure I knew everything. However, baby #2 was a completely different eater than baby #1. I remember sending Jonelle desperate photos asking, "what's wrong with this latch?!¿ Why does this still hurt?!"

Jonelle was so wonderful and attentive. She never made me feel bad about my struggles, reassured me that the latch was right, and helped me through the nursing of a very ravenous newborn.

Jonelle listened to my concerns, never made me feel rushed, and offered advice in such a compassionate, non-judgemental way. In fact, as the months and years went on, whenever I heard other women discussing nursing issues I would always say, "I know a great lactation consultant!" Nursing can be so tough, having someone like Jonelle in your corner is SO important for a new mom. She is absolutely wonderful at her job!"

"Jonelle arrived to my hospital room at the exact right moment. She came with a smile and instantly heard my worries. Our course was complicated by an early term baby girl who was small for gestational age.

She had trouble latching and was losing weight. The medical team made their plan for us, but Jonelle helped make a plan with my goals in mind. She wrote out a plan of care for us and made herself available in the early days and weeks as we continued to work on breastfeeding and gaining weight.

Our breastfeeding journey continued to have bumps along the way, but Jonelle was always there for us. Her dedication, kindness, and empathy made a huge difference to my transition into motherhood and I am forever grateful. With Jonelle's help we were able to meet our goals and we are still breastfeeding today at almost 18-months-old!"

In addition to being very skilled and highly knowledgeable about breastfeeding, she’s dependable and kind, possessing an innate love of working with mothers and babies.

Anyone choosing Jonelle to support their breastfeeding goals will be in excellent hands."
