About Danelle
Perinatal & Couples Therapist
After facing personal challenges during and after the births of her children, Danelle Buchman was drawn into the world of advocacy, becoming active in the paid family leave movement. With a background in community organizing and public health, she has worked for various nonprofit organizations and volunteered with groups like MomsRising and Emerge Maryland. These experiences inspired her to pursue a Master of Social Work while living overseas with her family.
Although she initially leaned toward macro social work, Danelle discovered a deep passion for clinical work and the transformative power of supporting women one-on-one. She now blends her advocacy roots with her therapeutic practice, believing that personal empowerment and systemic change go hand in hand.
Danelle serves as a member of the Advisory Board of the Maryland Chapter of Postpartum Support International, where she also serves as a Past Chair. As a therapist, her approach is energetic, encouraging, collaborative, and empowering. She creates a safe, empathetic space for healing and growth, using integrated, strengths-based techniques that equip clients with practical tools they can carry beyond their sessions. I enjoy working with couples. Communication is key for couples navigating the journey into parenthood. Whether you're being proactive or already in the thick of it, couples therapy offers the insight of a skilled third party to help you strengthen communication and face the inevitable challenges of parenthood as a team. I help couples improve their relationship by addressing communication issues, conflict, and emotional disconnection. Together, we'll explore your relationship dynamics, work through conflict, and build a deeper sense of understanding and connection. Whether you're facing relationship issues, family dynamics, or other couples and family challenges, I'm here to help you thrive — even during the most stressful times. I have training from The Gottman Institute, including their Bringing Baby Home program.
A Maryland resident of over 20 years, Danelle also spent seven years abroad in Germany and England with her husband and children, visiting over 30 countries during that time. She enjoys traveling, reading, walking her dog while listening to podcasts (her favorite is You're Wrong About), and staying engaged in her community through volunteer work at her children’s school and continued involvement with Emerge Maryland.
At the heart of Danelle’s work is a commitment to social justice and a belief in the power of helping women find strength and confidence in their own voices.
