About Imani
Yoga Instructor, RYT 200
Imani has been a dedicated student of yoga since 2015 and has been guiding others in their practice for the past three years. She is trained in contemporary Baptiste-inspired power yoga and has experience teaching a variety of styles including vinyasa, hot power, and slow flow. Imani is currently working toward her second prenatal yoga certification as she continues to deepen her work supporting mothers through pregnancy and beyond.
Imani also teaches free, community-based classes through the Rest Easy Bby Collective in Baltimore, helping make yoga more accessible to her local community. With strong ties to the mental health community, her teaching centers on nurturing the connection between mind, body, and spirit. She encourages students to cultivate self-awareness, build resilience, and develop healthy boundaries both on and off the mat.
As a prenatal yoga teacher and mother herself, Imani is especially passionate about supporting mothers in strengthening their voices and deepening their sense of agency. Through mindful movement and breath, she helps students build trust in themselves, skills that carry from the mat into birth and motherhood.
Imani’s approach to yoga is deeply informed by her own mental health journey. During a particularly challenging time in her life, yoga became a powerful source of grounding and healing, and the practice has continued to support her wellbeing over the past decade.
Outside of yoga, Imani works as a writer at Johns Hopkins. She also writes poetry and prose and runs a literary magazine. Born and raised in Baltimore, she is a mother of two young children and loves spending time outdoors in the sun and in nature. One day she hopes to publish a collection of poetry or her debut novel, a dream she has held alongside her long-standing desire to become a yoga teacher.
