About Maria Simon
Yoga teacher, Ayurvedic Health Practitioner
Maria’s journey with yoga began as a teenager when she tried a few classes at her local YMCA. She quickly found that yoga was a powerful tool for managing anxiety. On a whim, in 2013, she decided to sign up for yoga teacher training—a decision that would profoundly shape her life. After completing her 200-hour certification, Maria dove straight into her 500-hour training, and she has been teaching and sharing her love for yoga ever since.
During her teacher training, Maria was introduced to Ayurveda, sparking an insatiable curiosity that led her to pursue formal education in this ancient healing system. In a beautiful twist of fate, Maria completed her Ayurvedic Health Practitioner program and submitted her final paperwork the same day she gave birth to her son, Wren.
Life has certainly changed for Maria since becoming a mother. Now, she balances time between caring for her son and their beloved dog, Raita, and teaching yoga. While her days are filled with the joy and chaos of new motherhood, Maria feels called to help others in the birthing community, particularly in the postpartum period—a crucial and often overlooked phase in the U.S. healthcare system. Having experienced the benefits of Ayurvedic care before and after birth, she is deeply grateful for the knowledge she gained and is eager to share it with others.
Maria has been teaching yoga for over 11 years, gaining experience with various styles that have shaped her understanding of how people move and heal differently. It was yoga that eventually led her to Ayurveda, where her true passion lies. Now, she is determined to bring the healing wisdom of Ayurveda to the Baltimore community, with a particular focus on supporting birthing people with both prenatal and postnatal care.
Maria is passionate about environmental justice and equality, values she shares with her partner, a staff attorney at Maryland Legal Aid. Together, they are dedicated to creating a better world for their family and their community.
